Football Recap: Paynesville Comes Up Short

If Paynesville was feeling good fresh off their 52-12 takedown of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Crusaders from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Paynesville's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Paynesville will face off against Royalton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Royals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they will welcome Osakis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Silverstreaks' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Crusaders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
