Softball Recap: Bennett Comes Up Short

Bennett extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 11-12. They came up short against the Florence Huskies, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Florence, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Florence's part, Addison Dalton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Dalton has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn DeSalvo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Roe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Bennett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Florence, they will be playing at home against Burlington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
