Baseball Recap: Camden Catholic Comes Up Short

Camden Catholic had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-22 to make it 17. They came up short against the Bishop Eustace Prep Crusaders, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 back in April.

Camden Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Wiltsey, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Bishop Eustace Prep, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3-1. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Bishop Eustace Prep's side, JJ McLaughlin made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McLaughlin was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Brandon Hartman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Rosenberg, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Roman Faiola was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Looking ahead, Camden Catholic will challenge Paul VI at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Eustace Prep, they will face off against Allentown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
