Basketball Recap: Simone Harvey Key Part of a Team Effort in Owls Win

Agnes Irwin won the last time they faced Hill School and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Agnes Irwin Owls snuck past the Hill School Rams with a 49-44 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Owls' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Rams are ranked 13th).

Agnes Irwin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Simone Harvey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Harvey a new career-high in rebounds. Bailey Perkins was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Agnes Irwin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Hill School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Agnes Irwin and Tournament Opponent will compete for holiday cheer at 2:20 p.m. on Friday. Hill School will take on St. Mary's Ryken in a holiday battle at at 6:40 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's Ryken will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Hill School surely won't give up without a fight.
