Basketball Recap: Carmichaels Comes Up Short

Carmichaels was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the West Greene Pioneers 56-16. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mighty Mikes of the 45-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Joselyn Carter was Carmichaels' leading scorer, having posted six points.

West Greene got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madelyn Roberts out in front who posted 12 points and seven steals. Roberts is becoming a predictor of West Greene's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when she doesn't). Marissa Tharp was another key player, putting up ten points and seven steals.

Carmichaels' loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for West Greene, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Carmichaels has already played their next match, a 35-33 victory against Jefferson-Morgan on the 6th. As for West Greene, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-41 win against Bishop Canevin on the 5th.
