Baseball Recap: Pardeeville Comes Up Short

Pardeeville extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-8-1. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Markesan Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 on Tuesday.

Brady Dolgner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pardeeville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Austin Dechert also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Markesan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.

On Markesan's side, the team relied heavily on Logan Lemke, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Jerome, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Pardeeville will take on Columbus Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Markesan, they will challenge Westfield Area at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
