Preview: California Lutheran C-Hawks vs. La Sierra Academy Knights
California Lutheran is 10-0 against La Sierra Academy since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The California Lutheran C-Hawks will be playing at home against the La Sierra Academy Knights at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in California Lutheran's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while La Sierra Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, California Lutheran was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-40 to United Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as California Lutheran came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while United Christian Academy is ranked 556th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Allison Schroeder, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Schroeder, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, La Sierra Academy took a serious blow against California School for the Deaf-Riverside on Tuesday, falling 45-12.
California Lutheran's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2. As for La Sierra Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
California Lutheran strolled past La Sierra Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 45-29. Does California Lutheran have another victory up their sleeve, or will La Sierra Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
