Argyle had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the Walnut Grove Wildcats with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 52-35. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won 12 contests in a row.

Maguire Gasperson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown. Those 76 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Watson Bell, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Argyle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Argyle wouldn't let Walnut Grove keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Gage Prepula, Xavier Sanchez, and Maxwell Bland picked up one apiece. Bland has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last seven times he's played. Argyle got some further help from Garrett Westrom: he made 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Cameron Newton and Hayes Hackney certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Newton gained 128 total yards and three touchdowns, while Hackney threw for 329 yards and one touchdown. Luke Watkins was another key player, picking up 142 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Argyle pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.4 points per game. As for Walnut Grove, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.

Argyle has already played their next game, a 42-17 win against Lovejoy on the 6th. Walnut Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
