Baseball Game Preview: Wheeler County Bulldogs vs. Wilcox County Patriots

Wheeler County is 0-10 against Wilcox County since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wheeler County Bulldogs will face off against the Wilcox County Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wheeler County comes in on three and Wilcox County on five.

While Wheeler County's victory against Treutlen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wheeler County skirted past Treutlen 2-1.

Meanwhile, Wilcox County got themselves on the board against Telfair County on Thursday, but Telfair County never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Deacon Harper was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in triples.

In other batting news, Bo Bloodworth was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Myles Davis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Wilcox County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Wheeler County's record now sits at 3-5. As for Wilcox County, their record now sits at 6-3.

Wheeler County came up short against Wilcox County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Wheeler County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
