Volleyball Recap: Illiana Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at 13 Games

Illiana Christian dropped down to 16-4 on Saturday, ending the team's 13-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Chesterton Trojans by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Karaline Kuiper paced Illiana Christian's offense, picking up six kills. Kuiper got some help from Isabella Borrero and her nine assists. Borrero also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Dorothy Leep, racking up three apiece.

As for Chesterton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since August 28th.

Chesterton found their leader in sophomore Reese Dilbeck, who had four digs and three aces.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Illiana Christian will host Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chesterton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Merrillville at 5:00 p.m.
