Football Recap: Colby Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lakin last Friday, Colby came back down to earth. The Eagles had to suffer through a 48-16 loss at the hands of the Scott Beavers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Beavers are ranked 47th).

Despite the loss, Colby still got an impressive performance from Cody Wright, who rushed for 109 yards on only 13 carries.

Colby didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kade Youngman and Wright.

Colby's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Scott, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Colby will head out to challenge Holcomb on Friday. The Longhorns' defense has only allowed 11.1 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Scott, they will venture away from home to square off against Clay Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
