Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grovetown). They put the hurt on the Rockdale County Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.
Brodie Combs made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Grovetown's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Combs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
