Basketball Recap: San Juan Takes a Loss

San Juan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Woodland Christian Cardinals and fell 64-11. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Woodland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Teagan Hayes, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine assists, and nine steals. What's more, Hayes also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Keziah Maldonado-Lemus was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 steals.

San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Woodland Christian, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Juan will take on Golden Sierra at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden Sierra has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Woodland Christian, they will face off against Rodriguez at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
