It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Foothill had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Yucaipa Thunderbirds. Three seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Grady Wright looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Foothill saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Kim, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Kim has posted since back in April.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Yucaipa, they moved to 20-11 with that loss, which also ended their 12-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Foothill nor the Thunderbirds have any future games scheduled.
