Softball Recap: Clinch County Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

While Clinch County's win against Telfair County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

The result came thanks to Addy Barber's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Clinch County's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Corbitt, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Clinch County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Clinch County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Telfair County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Clinch County will square off against Wheeler County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.5, the Bulldogs 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Telfair County, they will face off against Bleckley County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
