Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Papillion-LaVista dropped to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 7-4 to the Northwest Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Monarchs of the 7-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Maizey Carpenter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Northwest, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Northwest's side, Graclyn Simmons spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Simmons has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Libby Loman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Becca Dinkelman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Papillion-LaVista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-2 win against Pius X on the 29th. As for Northwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-3 victory against Lincoln Southeast on the 29th.
