Basketball Game Preview: Samueli Academy Firewolves vs. San Gabriel Academy Eagles

The Samueli Academy Firewolves will face off against the San Gabriel Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Gabriel Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Samueli Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Samueli Academy turned things around against Newport Christian on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over the Seahawks.

Samueli Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Genavivie Medrano led the charge by putting up 18 points. That's the most points Medrano has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Cortez, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, San Gabriel Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Takoma Academy 55-13. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

San Gabriel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Samueli Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.
