Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Costa Mesa Mustangs

The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will square off against the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Capistrano Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Capistrano Valley Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hamilton 37-34. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Costa Mesa). They strolled past St. Genevieve with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 65-48.

Costa Mesa pushed their record up to 13-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Capistrano Valley Christian took a serious blow against Costa Mesa in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 69-20. Can Capistrano Valley Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
