Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will challenge the Laguna Beach Breakers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Capistrano Valley Christian comes in on three and Laguna Beach on four.

Capistrano Valley Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Newport Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Capistrano Valley Christian walked away with a 33-21 win over Newport Christian on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Laguna Beach's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on University with a sharp 49-26 victory. The Breakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Capistrano Valley Christian better focus on containing Fiona McCormick and Kate Cheng as the pair were huge in Laguna Beach's win. McCormick posted 21 points, while Cheng scored 20 points. McCormick's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Capistrano Valley Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Laguna Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
