Basketball Preview: St. Francis Sharks vs. Gonzales Spartans
The St. Francis Sharks will be playing at home against the Gonzales Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, St. Francis gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They blew past King City 69-31 on the road. With that victory, St. Francis brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Aaliysah Gomez and Maya Calfee were among the main playmakers for St. Francis as the former almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals and the latter scored 37 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calfee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Raich, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Gonzales had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against King City by a score of 48-36 last Thursday. Gonzales' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. Francis' victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Gonzales, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Everything went St. Francis' way against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January as the Sharks made off with a 62-38 victory. Will St. Francis repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
