Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pinecrest Academy). They never let Trinity Classical get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Paladins with their most commanding win of the season.

Cooper Chupp looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mathew Sime was a standout: he scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Charles Dodson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Pinecrest Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity Classical, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Pinecrest Academy will be playing at home against Lanier Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lanier Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Trinity Classical, they are taking a road trip to take on Horizon Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Classical has given up an average of 17.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
