Football Recap: West Jefferson Find Success

West Jefferson had won three straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 6-0 to make it four. They managed a 42-36 victory over the Northeastern Jets. For the Roughriders, this counts as revenge for the 40-13 win the Jets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Austin Buescher produced another solid performance rushing for 110 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 279 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 110 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jeremy Jester was Buescher's top target, picking up 159 receiving yards and one score.

Having lost for the first time this season, Northeastern fell to 5-1. The loss was their first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Northeastern lost, don't look at Cody Houseman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 148 yards and a pair of TDs. Jacoby Newman was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Coming up, West Jefferson is taking a road trip to take on Triad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Roughriders will be up against the Cardinals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northeastern, they will welcome West Liberty-Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
