Baseball Recap: Pottsville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Waldron

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pottsville). They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Waldron Bulldogs on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Apaches, who have now won four games in a row.

Brody Blasingame looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Morris, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Snow, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Pottsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pottsville's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Waldron, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pottsville will head out to square off against Dardanelle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Waldron, they will venture away from home to take on Booneville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
