Softball Recap: Kearney Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to 11

Kearney Catholic hadn't done well against McCook recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Stars blew past the Bison 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Raegan Ruyle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kynlee Ruyle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tessa Colling, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Kearney Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Kearney Catholic pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for McCook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coincidentally, Kearney Catholic and McCook will both be playing Lexington the next time they take the field. The Bison will host the Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Stars will head out to face them at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
