The Cromwell Panthers will head out to take on the Somers Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cromwell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Cromwell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Xavier, who was ranked 19th at the time (Cromwell was ranked 17th). The Panthers fell 7-3 to the Falcons on Monday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Luke Morello put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morello was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Morello wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Ucol, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Somers came up short against Coventry on Monday and fell 8-5.

Somers' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for Cromwell, the loss was their first on the road, dropping their record down to 14-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cromwell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Somers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Cromwell's way against Somers in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Cromwell made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
