Baseball Recap: Hampton Hornets vs. Luella Lions
Hampton lost against Luella last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hampton Hornets fell victim to a rough 12-1 loss at the hands of the Luella Lions. Hampton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hampton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Peugnet, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Even though they lost, Hampton didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Luella only tossed three.
On Luella's side, Xavier Bradley was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of EJ Lemon, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Luella, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.
Hampton will be playing at home against Lovett at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Lovett will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Hampton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Luella, they will be playing at home against Woodland at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Luella will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
