Baseball Recap: Lanphier Comes Up Short

Lanphier had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it ten. They lost 10-0 to the Jacksonville Crimsons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 17-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Jacksonville's part, they got a great performance from Ryan Headen as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Headen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Rohlk, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Kershaw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lanphier has already played their next game, a 17-9 defeat against Mt. Pulaski on the 25th. As for Jacksonville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Springfield Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.56 runs per game on average), something the Crimsons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
