Softball Recap: Pierce Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Pierce came out on top against Tekamah-Herman on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run third inning. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 15-3 victory. With that win, the Bluejays brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Savannah Beutler was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Halsey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Pierce hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Pierce's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-18. As for Tekamah-Herman, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pierce will take on Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Slammers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Tekamah-Herman, they will challenge Highway 91 at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Highway 91 has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.05 runs per game on average), something Tekamah-Herman will no doubt try to take advantage of.
