After a string of nine wins, Laurel Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Simpson Academy Cougars, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.

Laurel Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Blackwell, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Laurel Christian's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Simpson Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Laurel Christian will face off against rival Wayne Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Simpson Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
