Softball Recap: Flint River Academy Comes Up Short

Flint River Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Lancers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Rhyan Banks made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Callahan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Central Fellowship Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Central Fellowship Christian Academy's side, Ella Huddleston made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Huddleston was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Central Fellowship Christian Academy let Abby Vesey and Anna Sweatt run wild. Vesey went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, while Sweatt got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, Sweatt posted three hits, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. Allyson Johnson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flint River Academy will challenge St. Anne-Pacelli at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they will face off against Gatewood at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
