Basketball Recap: Calaveras Red Hawks vs. Argonaut Mustangs
The Calaveras Red Hawks were handed a two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Argonaut Mustangs on Tuesday. Calaveras put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 50-26 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Calaveras also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Calaveras' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paige Johnston led the charge by scoring nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Tapia, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Calaveras is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Argonaut, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calaveras will challenge the Bullfrogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Argonaut, they will head out on the road to take on the Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Amador is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
