Basketball Game Preview: Sacramento Dragons vs. Rodriguez Mustangs

The Sacramento Dragons will challenge the Rodriguez Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacramento is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Sacramento is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Fortune Early College: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sacramento blew Fortune Early College out of the water with a 75-42 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-13.

It was another big night for La Ne Dunn, who dropped a triple-double with 18 points, 17 boards, and ten assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Clark, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Sacramento smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 60-35 to Woodland Christian. The Mustangs were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Sacramento has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points over those games. As for Rodriguez, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Sacramento took their win against Rodriguez when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 59-35. Will Sacramento repeat their success, or does Rodriguez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
