Basketball Recap: Caitlin Subejano's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cosumnes Oaks over Laguna Creek

If Cosumnes Oaks was feeling good fresh off their 47-25 takedown of Elk Grove last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack lost 52-31 to the Laguna Creek Cardinals on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-36 back in January.

Cosumnes Oaks lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Caitlin Subejano, who posted 11 points and five steals. Cosumnes Oaks is 7-2 when Subejano posts five or more steals, but 4-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Williams, who scored nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laguna Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jestine Tofi, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trinity Thao, who had 15 points and eight boards.

Cosumnes Oaks dropped their record down to 11-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Laguna Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Cosumnes Oaks has already played their next matchup, a 49-29 loss against Monterey Trail on the 7th. As for Laguna Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-42 defeat against Pleasant Grove on the 7th.
