Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. Classical Academy Caimans
The El Camino Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Classical Academy Caimans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. El Camino is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
On Tuesday, El Camino escaped with a win against Canyon Crest Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48.
It was another big night for Alana Hoskins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of El Camino's points. Jaelle Fulford was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Classical Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-13 loss at the hands of Francis Parker. While losing is never fun, Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 891st, while Francis Parker is ranked 84th).
El Camino's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18. As for Classical Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
