Basketball Recap: Cameron County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cameron County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past the Port Allegany Gators with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-31. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Gators are ranked 180th).

Port Allegany's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Moses, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Moses is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn Evens, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and five blocks.

Cameron County's record is now 11-8. As for Port Allegany, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.

Cameron County and Port Allegany's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Cameron County and Otto-Eldred (who has only given up 29.76 points per game) will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Port Allegany will challenge Oswayo Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed 23.13 points per game.
