Soccer Game Preview: Montebello vs. Mark Keppel

The Montebello Oilers will head out on the road to square off against the Mark Keppel Aztecs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Montebello fell victim to San Gabriel and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Matadors. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 953rd, while the Matadors are ranked 449th).

Meanwhile, Mark Keppel unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Thursday. Neither they nor Alhambra could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept the Aztecs happy, as they haven't lost a game since November 21, 2024.

Mark Keppel's draw gives them a new season record of 11-1-1. As for Montebello, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-3 record this season.

Montebello might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Mark Keppel in their previous matchup last Monday. Can Montebello avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
