Football Game Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Westmoreland Eagles

West Point is 0-7 against Westmoreland since September of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Pointers will welcome the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West Point's last matchup with Northampton could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Pointers were dealt a 35-8 defeat at the hands of the Yellowjackets. The Pointers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 22-0.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aidan Ratcliffe, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, Westmoreland fell victim to Handley and their airtight defense on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Judges and fell 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Judges are ranked 63rd).

Westmoreland's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Things could have been worse for West Point, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-21 loss to Westmoreland in their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
