Soccer Game Preview: St. Ignatius College Preparatory vs. Archbishop Mitty

St. Ignatius College Preparatory is 1-8 against Archbishop Mitty since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats will face off against the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Leigh a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Wildcats 4-0. Considering the Monarchs have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Woodside with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Murphy Walsh (2), Jasmyne Wheeler, and Brooklynn Collier.

Archbishop Mitty's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those 11 games. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
