Preview: Liberty Charter Lions vs. Southwest SD Raiders
The Liberty Charter Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest SD Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Liberty Charter had to kick off their season on the road last Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against High Tech CV as Liberty Charter made off with a 39-13 win.
Even though Southwest SD has not done well against El Cajon Valley recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Southwest SD walked away with a 40-28 victory over El Cajon Valley.
Southwest SD found their leader in underclassman Pilar Carrera, who scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Carrera has scored at least 25% of Southwest SD's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Martinez, who scored 9 points.
Liberty Charter's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Southwest SD, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
