decide. MaxPreps is proud to sponsor the Indiana Athlete of
the Week awards during the 2022-23 school year.
Each week during the season (regular and post),
there will be a fan-generated contest to tab
weekly winners. Each winner receives a letter and
award patch for their varsity jacket.
How does it
work? Nominees are selected from
statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may
request their free account here.
Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every
Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll.
Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day
along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many
times as they want. It's a competition.
This past week, over 100,000 votes were cast. So far
this school year over 2.2-million votes have been cast.

wins over West Lafayette, Frankfort and Western. Has 824 assists and 151
digs this season.
* Dejanae Butler, Park Tudor (Indianapolis) Girls
SoccerJunior had four goals and two assists in a 6-0
regional championship win over Covenant Christian and a goal in a 5-0
regional semifinal win over Muncie Burris. Has 24 goals, 17 assists and
65 points this season.
* Jason Oprisek, Southwood (Wabash)
FootballSenior had 22 tackles (10 solo) and 1.5 TFL
in a 28-26 win over Tippecanoe Valley. Has 79 tackles, 15 TFL and 6.5
sacks this season.

* Robert Lamar, Clarksville FootballA week after rushing for 437 yards and seven TDs in a 58-14 win over Crawford County, the senior ran for 432 yards and eight TDs in a 70-42 win over Eastern. Has 2,839 rushing yards (leads Indiana) and 35 total TDs (second in the state) this season.
* Lucy Furqueron, Park Tudor (Indianapolis) Girls SoccerSenior goalie made 10 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Evansville Mater Dei. It was her eighth shutout in a row and 14th this season.
*Janie Ransom, Western Boone (Thorntown) VolleyballSophomore had 45 and 39 assists in wins over Northview and Guerin Catholic. Her 1,075 assists this season leads Indiana.
* Josh Oglesby, Boone Grove (Valparaiso) FootballJunior caught 10 passes for 200 yards and five TDs in a 46-42 loss to Calumet New Tech.
* Leena Leichty, Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian VolleyballSophomore had 56 and 28 assists in wins over South Newton and Marquette Catholic. Has 934 and 277 digs this season.
* Deejay Mcferson, Speedway FootballSenior carried the ball 30 times for 238 yards and five TDs in a 40-36 win over North Montgomery.
