Baseball Game Preview: Central Rockets vs. Geneva Vikings

The Central Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Geneva Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Geneva took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Central, who comes in off a win.

Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Kaneland.

Meanwhile, Geneva came up short against Barrington on Monday and fell 6-3.

Geneva got a good showing from Matthew Martija, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Martija has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Bruesch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Geneva's loss dropped their record down to 28-7. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-18-2 record this season.
