Soccer Game Preview: Calvary Chapel vs. Garden Grove

The Calvary Chapel Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Garden Grove Argonauts at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.

Calvary Chapel is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Santa Ana on Thursday. Calvary Chapel fell just short of Santa Ana by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Garden Grove beat Westminster 3-1 on Thursday. Given the Argonauts' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Lions are ranked 701st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yasmin Alfadhiel and Valeria Luevanos scored all three of Garden Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Garden Grove is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-3 record this season. As for Calvary Chapel, they dropped their record down to 6-10-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Calvary Chapel came up short against Garden Grove in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Calvary Chapel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
