Basketball Recap: Shasta Beats Chico for Their Third Straight Win

Shasta posted their closest victory since January 2nd on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Chico Panthers out 40-38. The win was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won three matches in a row.

Shasta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cali Soule, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bria Tate, who earned 11 points.

Despite the defeat, Chico had strong showings from Corrina Stephens, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards, and Kayleigh Solano, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 12 points and six rebounds. Stephens is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Shasta's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Chico, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Shasta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 33-29 victory against Red Bluff on the 13th. As for Chico, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-47 win against Enterprise on the 13th.
