Soccer Game Preview: Pleasant Valley vs. Chico

The Pleasant Valley Vikings will take on the Chico Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Pleasant Valley's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Enterprise 7-0. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Hornets are ranked 769th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pleasant Valley's offense was hitting Enterprise from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Madeleine Barteau led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Chico brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Red Bluff on Friday as Chico made off with a 5-0 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by four goals or more this season.

Pleasant Valley's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5-2. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-3.
