Phoenixville has no trouble against Pottsgrove

The Phoenixville Phantoms had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 win over Pottsgrove. Given Phoenixville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Pottsgrove is ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pottsgrove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jessica Carroll, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Carroll scored a full 36.5% of Pottsgrove's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Leaman, who scored 12 points along with six assists and four steals.

Phoenixville's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Pottsgrove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenixville will take on East at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Pottsgrove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Daniel Boone at 6:45 p.m. on January 12th. Daniel Boone is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
