Softball Recap: Freeman Has No Trouble Against Milford

Freeman was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Milford on Saturday. The Falcons blew past the Eagles 9-1. Considering the Falcons have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Sydney Lenners was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine games. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Freeman let Leyton Lueders and Nevaeh Niles run wild. Lueders went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Niles went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That double was Lueders' first of the season. Jadyn Griffith was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Freeman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.

Freeman's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Milford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Freeman will head out to face off against Fillmore Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milford, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against York at 6:30 p.m.
