Softball Recap: Bennington Comes Up Short

Bennington extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 11-14. They lost 11-2 to the Waverly Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in September.

As for Waverly, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

For Waverly's part, Luci Thieman looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thieman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reegan McCall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Hailey Recker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Bennington nor Waverly have any future games scheduled.
