Basketball Recap: Lyla Levy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Everett over Southern Fulton

Everett was the 46-42 winner over Southern Fulton when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Everett Warriors took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Fulton Indians on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Indians are ranked 474th).

Everett's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lyla Levy, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Levy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Wood, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Everett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Southern Fulton found their leader in sophomore Claire Harvey, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Harvey's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Alexis Johnson was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 18 points.

Everett's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Southern Fulton, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Everett will face off against Northern Bedford County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Fulton, they will take on Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
