Softball Game Preview: Ankeny Centennial Jaguars vs. Southeast Polk Rams

The Ankeny Centennial Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Southeast Polk Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ankeny Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Southeast Polk's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ankeny Centennial's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Saturday, when they got past Fort Dodge's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Jaguars were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Dodgers. Considering the Jaguars have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Southeast Polk entered their tilt with North Scott on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

Southeast Polk pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Ankeny Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Ankeny Centennial couldn't quite finish off Southeast Polk in their previous matchup on June 4th and fell 5-3. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
