Preview: Anaheim Colonists vs. Savanna Rebels

Anaheim is 10-0 against Savanna since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Anaheim Colonists will head out on the road to square off against the Savanna Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Anaheim had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Century 73-20 on the road. Given Anaheim's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Century is ranked 1207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anaheim got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Melody Cortes out in front who scored 14 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cortes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lesli Dominquez, who scored 12 points along with four steals.

Meanwhile, Savanna had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They breezed by Santa Ana Valley on the road to the tune of 61-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Savanna has posted since December 13, 2023.

Anaheim pushed their record up to 21-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Savanna, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Anaheim beat Savanna 56-47 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anaheim since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
